We women are creative beings. The sooner we integrate this, the faster we can move on and start living amazingly creative lives, exactly like we're meant to. But ok, we realise we need to backtrack for a second and explain this statement. We understand. We were artists-in-denial ourselves until we stumbled across the incredible powers of our menstrual cycle (after bleeding in darkness and shame for way too many years). Our cycle is what enables us to give birth. Both literally and figuratively. We're all familiar with the literal aspect of it.
But we never thought of it otherwise. Giving birth does not only mean giving life to a little human. The birthing process is about bringing ideas, passions and projects into this world too, and we are built to do this. That's not us saying this but our internal chemistry. Every month our body gets ready to go through a birthing process. We become deeply plugged into our intuition and our body naturally adapts itself so that we can bring ideas (and sometimes babies) into form. This is a deeply creative process, and one that we go through naturally, without us needing to put much energy or thought into it. What we do need is to become aware of and attuned to this process and start viewing ourselves as creators.
Ever uttered the phrase 'I am just not a creative'? Well you are. By your very nature. There is no escaping it. And when there is no escaping something, the only choice we have is to embrace it. For all of us recovering left brainists, we need to start approaching our lost creative self pretty much like taming a small, feral and scared animal. Because afterall we have disowned our creative side for years. And being artistic does not necessarily mean that you suddenly have to identify yourself with some eccentric painter or musician. Creativity comes in more ways than we think and can range from just being able to see projects and situations from a different perspective to taking on pottery and realising we are actually really good at it. The point is to start seeing ourselves as who we are : creative beings first and foremost, and doing away with the limiting belief that we do not have a creative cell in our body. Because if you do have this limiting belief, then you are stripping your life and the world of your uniquely creative self.
So think about how you can start bringing some creativity into your life. Pick up that guitar that is accumulating dust, take pen and paper and start writing something, anything, add a personal twist to that recipe. Let the creative juices flow and watch how they spill over in all areas of your life.
